NYC: Sacred Music for Sacred Forests ~ Benefit for World Wildlife Day

SOUK Yoga Studio
12 West 27th Street 2nd Floor,
New York, NY 10001

Join us for this intimate evening of sacred music to honor and conserve the sacred groves of wild India, home of the majestic tiger and elephants and a diversity of flora and fauna.

"Sacred Music for Sacred Forests” with chanting and music by Krishna Das, Nina Rao, Devadas and more.. rhythm sound journey with Arjun Bruggeman, and more sacred music. Elizabeth Novogratz, founder of Species Unite podcast and non-profit, as special guest will chat with Nina about the issue of co-existence of humans with wildlife as a larger issue of building awareness of global interconnectedness within and without, and how it affects climate change.

In 2023, founder of Saving Wild Tigers, Nina Rao, traveled to national parks and wildlife preserves in India and supported via donations these NGOs: Tiger Watch in Ranthambhore, Gharial Ecology Project in Chambal, Center for Wildlife Studies in Karnataka, and Voices for Asian Elephants in Odisha. All funds raised by SWT are donated directly to the field with no admin costs.

In view of the climate crisis we are living through, we believe it’s important to turn our mind and energies with great intention to preserving the bio-diverse wilderness areas that exist in the world and continue the process of ‘re-wilding’ tracts of land (and water) so that we might continue to have the support of Nature for the well-being of human-Kind and all Beings. This requires a strong effort on our part to co-exist with wildlife and wild places… even if only to appreciate the pure Beauty of nature but also for the well-being of the Mother Earth that supports us and future generations.

This in-person evening is hosted by Saving Wild Tigers, with support from Kirtan Wallah Foundation.

Your donation goes directly toward the protection of India's forest, for research and programs that support the co-existence of humans with wildlife. It is amazing and immensely hopeful that India, the most densely populated country in the world, continues to have viable shelter for wildlife and a wild tiger and wild elephant population that can still improve, despite ongoing habitat destruction and poaching. It is imperative that along with managing climate change, simply preserving the existing wilderness and bio-diversity and rewilding more land is part of the answer to saving our planet and pure Beauty.
