What if the Sacred Feminine is not something to learn about, but someone to feel, hear, and recognize within all beings and all things?

She appears across cultures and traditions, in nature and in the unseen, in the mystics of old and the lived experience of your own body. She is vast, and the only true doorway to her is your own direct experience: the way she meets you uniquely.

Join kirtan leader Nina Rao and interspiritual guide Mirabai Starr for a rich, experiential journey into the Sacred Feminine. Through devotional singing, mystical teachings, storytelling, and contemplative practice, we will explore the many forms of the Divine Feminine as she appears in chant, in story, in nature, and within our own lives.

This gathering invites you not only to learn about the Sacred Feminine, but to embody her.

What We Will Explore

Kirtan and Devotional Chanting with Nina Rao

Nina will guide us in invocation, chanting, and japa, weaving in the stories of the Devis, the twenty-one Taras, and her own intimate experiences with Siddhi Ma. Her offerings invite us into the heart-opening immediacy of the Goddess as she descends into the world and into our lives. No previous experience with chanting is required.

Mystical Teachings and Storytelling with Mirabai Starr

Mirabai will share luminous stories of the feminine mystics, beginning with Hildegard of Bingen and her deep attunement to nature. Together we will explore mystics such as Hildegard of Bingen, Teresa of Avila, and present-day mystics whose voices carry the Sacred Feminine into our world.

Dialogue and Shared Inquiry

Together, Mirabai and Nina enter a flowing conversation exploring the Sacred Feminine as a mandala of many forms, her accessibility in everyday life, recognizing her presence in people, in nature, and in the unseen, and how we each personally approach and experience her wisdom.

Writing Practice and Breakout Groups

Mirabai leads a contemplative writing practice designed to help you access and integrate your own connection to the Sacred Feminine. Breakout groups offer space for gentle sharing and heartfelt community reflection.

Nina Rao

Nina Rao learned traditional chants (bhajans) from her grandfather in a village in south India when she was nine years old. The chants quietly stayed with her until she rediscovered chanting with Krishna Das in New York in 1996. For many years Nina has been Krishna Das' business manager and accompanies him musically as well. In 2007, she recorded the track "Nina Chalisa" on Krishna Das' CD "Flow of Grace"; January 2013 she released her debut album, "Antarayaami - Knower of All Hearts"; August 2017 her second album "Anubhav" was released. Nina regularly leads kirtan, workshops, and retreats in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York and beyond.

What People Are Discovering

"Although I've read about the Feminine, been in different classes and groups, I don't feel like I really know what it is, deeply know it. I was thinking that today as Mirabai was just talking about the Feminine, she knows it in her bones, her energy, her words. I want to know it that way."

—Mary Kay

"Mirabai and Willow's transmission of invoking the essence of the feminine mystics through tinctures of teachings, poems, writing and song quench my thirst and longing for community. To resource the fierce and tender wisdom of the feminine, gives birth to a clear voice I forgot I embodied, allowing me to show up, engage and take right action in the world."

—Kris

"I appreciated Mirabai sharing that she feels driven, feels the sense of urgency, and yet we also need to replenish and rest and find deep conversations and pleasure and filling our cups. So much wisdom in this gathering, and I come away feeling inspired, uplifted, and more able to move forward—rather than the feeling of discouragement and despair which I sometimes experience."

—Wendy

"Civilization has been largely limping along on the one leg of the patriarchy, in fact it's mostly due to the invisible arms of the mother holding up the other side that it moves at all. Time for all the neglected feminine wisdom to come together alongside that, so we can stand together—better yet, to dance."

—Julia

 The Sacred Feminine Is Calling

She is vast. She is many. She is here.

In the stories of the mystics, in the chants of devotion, in the body that carries you through this world. She meets you uniquely, in your own direct experience.

Join us for a morning of chanting, story, mysticism, and embodied practice. Let her in.
